Santillana del Mar on the west coast of Cantabria, 90 minutes´ drive from the Picos de Europa, 30 km fron Santander ( Airport) and 4 km from one of the most beautiful coasts of Spain and some of the most unspoiled beaches of Cantabria such as Santa Justa beach, is one of the oldest villages in this region. The first buiding was the Colegiata, built in the XI century and one of the most important examples of Romanesque architecture in Spain. Most of the houses were built between the XIV and the XVIII centuries, all in stone, forming narrow streets that create a magical atmosphere especially at night time with their subdued lighting.

Also here in Santillana del Mar, 1.5 km from the historic centre, you can find one of the greatest treasures of the Paleolithic age, the Caves of Altamira, and the museum containing the exact replica of its paintings.

The inn "Casa del Organista" is a large mountain house dating from the XVIII century. It has been carefully restored by artisan stonemasons and carpenters who have transformed what for 60 years the house belonging to the Organist of the Colegiata of Santillana for its current use as outstanding hotel.
